Happy New Year from The King’s Collective Network! As we embark on another new year, I want you to know discovering and fulfilling your purpose is essential in God’s Kingdom and making an impact in God’s world! But make no mistake, it will take tenacious execution.
Being Tenacious
The word “tenacious” is an adjective that conveys the following: [1]
- Not easily pulled apart
- Persistent in maintaining, adhering to, or seeking something valued or desired
When I think about the word, I think of “glue-like” properties. In other words, you are so committed to a course or outcome that you are unwilling to quit or let go until you have accomplished the mission. This means that you must be clear about your destination (vision), and purposeful in your mission to get to your destination or expected end.
Being tenacious requires having a clear vision, a defined purpose, and an executable actionable plan.

A Clear Vision
It will be difficult to be tenacious if you have an unclear vision. If you don’t know what you are looking to make into a reality whether it is the calling, the ministry, or the career that God has put impressed on your heart to manifest in the world, then you will likely lose focus and momentum, if you don’t know what you are aiming at. You must know how to conceive vision.
I am preparing to launch a course called Birthing Vision: Lessons from Nehemiah. If you are interested in receiving updates on the launch date, send me an email. So, how is a vision conceived? Here are some nuggets:
- Vision is often conceived from a desire to make something better because of an ideal or a view of how something ought to be.
- Vision can move you to action even when you are already in a “comfortable” position in life.
- Others will buy into your vision when God gives them a burden for what you are seeing or working towards
Vision is conceived from a desire to see the desired outcome fulfilled. It is forged through prayer, fueled by purpose, and realized through tenacious execution.
A Defined Purpose
Vision and purpose are a dynamic duo. Both are needed. Vision is an ideal in mind that you want to see come to fruition. Your purpose is the answer to the “Why” the vision must come to fruition. For example, here is my purpose and vision statement:
I am a playmaker and a force multiplier. my purpose is to inspire and equip others so that they make big plays and bold moves that transform their world because of discovering their purpose in God’s Kingdom. What will it look like when my purpose is fulfilled in relation to those whom I am called to serve (vision)? As a result of discovering their purpose, they are transforming their world by being change agents.
I believe that many new year’s resolutions fail because the goals are not clearly connected to one’s purpose. For instance, the goal to lose weight is great; however, when it is connected to your WHY, then there will be a greater motivation to accomplish the goal.
Let’s reframe the goal of losing weight through the lens of purpose. “I want to lose 30 pounds by end of April 2023 because doing this will help me become healthier so that I can fulfill my purpose of being a change agent in the field of healthcare.” Did you catch that?

An Executable Action Plan
Fulfilling purpose-driven goals will require doing the work. This means that you will need to execute. No one can do this but you. In another blog, I share how goals and action plans can be created around what I call the “Purpose Trifecta” i.e.
- Passions/Values/Interests
- Gifts/Abilities/Skills/Strengths
- Context/Zone of Impact/Mission/Proximity
Also, many times we fail to achieve goals not because of not having the desire to win, but because of the system (or the lack thereof) that we are using to execute. You must re-evaluate your system if you are not achieving goal-accomplishing results. Check my blog on how to execute on purpose for more info.
In the new year, what do you think are the biggest challenges you will face in terms of having a clear vision, a defined purpose, and an executable action plan? send me an email.
